The Game Changer

Six....this is last week's magic number. Why? Because it was the number of days IN A ROW that I had my hair done...by me! And I'm not talking about I washed and did my hair one time all of those days. Oh no. I washed and styled my hair twice in those 6 days (yes I showered in between the hair washings). I'm talking about my hair being down, I could run my fingers through it, it was not frizzy, it did not look like I hadn't showered in days, it wasn't in a messy bun, I looked like I could actually be the good looking woman my husband was lucky enough to marry (wink) instead of looking like I belonged under a bridge. It. Felt. FABULOUS!

Just a couple of weeks ago I was posting about how I hadn't showered in days...days...and now...now all of a sudden I'm bragging (because let's face it, a mom of 4 whose husband is deployed and 3 of her 4 children are in virtual school, all on different schedules, and a special needs daughter who needs constant attention throughout the day...you bet your butt I'm bragging) that I had my hair done all week? And I'm the one who did it? I know, I know. It doesn't sound real. But, thankfully for my hair, and those who look at me daily, it is.

What, pray tell, is the reason behind this monumental occurrence? I'm glad you asked. It is the Revlon One Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer Brush...in mint (because efficiency can still be cute).

First, I have to confess that I have been eyeing these combo hair dryer/brush deals for quite some time, and for multiple reasons. One, I love having my hair straight. It is naturally curly, but curly means having to wash and style Every. Single. Day. Which is irritating when I am trying to shower in under 5 minutes each morning. Having my hair straight means I don't have to wash it for two or three days (and let's be honest, sometimes four days) and it can stay looking good with minimal effort. Plus, it's the rule of hair law. If you have curly hair, you want it straight...if it's straight, you want some wave or curl.

ree

However, straightening my hair is a chore. I have to use a blow dryer and a brush to straighten and dry my hair, which can take about 20 minutes, minimum. Then, because genes blessed me with not just curly, but THICK and curly hair, I have to go back over my hair with a flat iron to get the frizz that the blow dryer and brush missed. So, getting my desired look can take, at minimum, 30 minutes. Who has time for that?

ree

A second, really big reason I wanted to try this new tool was because, after giving birth to my 4 year old daughter, I developed carpal tunnel in my right arm/hand. My hand is constantly going numb throughout the day, every day, when I curl my hand even in the slightest way. If I forget to wear my wrist brace to bed, my arm is essentially useless the next day. Shaving in the shower has become a fun game of "how much of my leg can I shave before I drop the razor?"

ree

So, having to grip both the blow dryer and brush and constantly curl and pull my hair for 30 minutes means my hand is numb for almost that entire time. This also means I have to continuously stop, hold my arm down at my side to regain feeling. Ugh...

Finally...I was just hesitant to buy one of these brush/dryer deals because...was it really going to straighten my hair like the videos show? Every video I watched had these girls who claimed that it straightened their hair super fast, with no flat iron needed, and it was luxurious and perfectly done...blah blah blah. Probably not 100% accurate was my thought because, let's face it, they want to sell the product right?

But, out of sheer curiosity...and because I felt like I deserved to at least give my appearance a chance at looking decent on the daily...I figured I'd give it a shot. I ordered it off of Amazon and it was here within two days (thank you Prime).

Let. Me. Tell. You! I am in LOVE with this thing! As soon as it came in the mail, I jumped in the shower, washed my hair, and got ready (screw school schedules, the kids were on their own for a hot minute). I wrapped my hair in a towel to get the excess water from my hair, used my anti-frizz serum (recommended by the hair stylist I finally found in Jacksonville, NC right before we PCS'd across country...picture my eye roll, again, here), and got to work.

Guess how long it took to dry my hair with this heavenly tool.

Guess!

Guess again!

Twelve and a half minutes. Yes...that is 12 minutes and 30 seconds (33 seconds to be exact...that is a screen shot of my phone below...yes, I timed it). A dozen minutes...and my hair was not only perfectly dry...but I didn't even have to use the flat iron! Not only did it work wonders in no time at all, the handle of the dryer/brush from heaven is thick, which means my hand didn't need to curl tightly around it, or I could just use my left hand if my right needed a break (keep your minds up here ladies and outta the gutter...sheesh) which meant minimal numbing in my carpal tunnel hand!

ree

I cannot say enough how much I LOVE this thing. I mean...LOVE LOVE. If I had to, I'd give up every other curler, flatener, dryer...anything else with an -er that pertains to hair care...right now with no hesitation.

ree

If you have been thinking about getting one...DO IT! There are other brands that I can't speak to...but this Revlon one...it is my GAME CHANGER! I plan on looking like a normal human being from this point forward.

Public...you're welcome.
