What Brings YOU Joy?

I love to write, always have. It's been something I have always felt good at and that has provided me a sense of pride and accomplishment no matter if I was writing a paper for school, a children's book (finished but not published), or this blog. I enjoy it.

But...and there's always a but...there are just not enough hours in the day as an adult with four kiddos and a husband with a demanding career. I don't have time to wash my hair daily let alone to sit down at my computer to type out a blog...or so I tell myself.

Why? Because it's easier. It's easier to fill my day with the 'necessity' of our family's daily grind. It's easier to push my wants to the side to take care of my family because if I'm too busy, there's no chance that I'll fail.

I told my husband (about 5 minutes ago) that I needed to cancel my website because I haven't written a blog since July. His response, "Babe, carve out 20 minutes a day to just sit and write."

He knows writing is something I love, he knows it brings me joy, and he knows I won't do it for myself. He's right that (not that I'll tell him to his face, but he can read it here). I love to write. So why stop doing something I love?

When something makes you happy, you make time for it. So here's to an early New Year's resolution for myself where I take the time, even if it's just 20 minutes a day, to write because it makes me happy.

What will you do for you?
